Our Project. |
Mission StatementThe PSCS Feminists are young minority women and allies who strive toward creating a community in which gender stereotypes are dismantled through activism, leadership and unity.
We believe that all members should feel safe in their community and know the basics of staying safe. Safety education and awareness programs are important strategies to prevent crime and challenge rape culture. |
Problem StatementThe Florence-Firestone community of South Los Angeles has one of the highest crime rates in California. Violent crimes include rape, robbery and aggravated assault while property crimes include burglary and larceny theft.
Students in our school community have been targeted and their property stolen on their way to and from school. Our project aims to address this problem by raising awareness and educating students about self defense. |
